Snoozefest

All right. It is Sunday, June 30, a little after 4 o'clock, and I’m camping on the banks of Raush Creek. I hiked about 14 miles today. I woke up this morning at around 5:45 and had managed to get a decent night's sleep, despite the big storms. My tent definitely took on water, so I'm going to have to see whether I can figure out where exactly the hole is. I suspect that whatever put a hole in my sleeping pad also put a small hole in my tent.

Even though it rained a lot, it was a dry campsite, meaning that it didn’t have a water source I could use to refill my supply. And I didn't have much water left at that point, which meant I couldn't really prepare much of a breakfast. I knew there was a water source about 2 miles away, so just ate a granola bar and some Fig Newtons, put away my wet tent, put away my wet clothes, put on some other wet clothes, and got moving. That was around 7 o’clock, since I didn't take any real time to prepare breakfast.

As I’d expected, about 2 miles into the day, I got to a spring. It was actually a decent walk down to get water, but I loaded up anyway and got back on my way. Today turned out to be one of the most boring hiking days of the entire AT so far. There were no views. The terrain was fairly flat, which was welcome, because my feet were sopping wet. I had wet clothes on. My pack was extra heavy because it was wet and was full of wet things. I mean, I was definitely grateful for the flat and boring terrain, but there's really not much to report.

I passed Boots with the Fur at one point. He was just hanging out and having a snack. But otherwise, I didn't see anyone. And eventually, around 2:30, I found this campsite by the creek, which is a lovely spot.

Now, the wind is really picking up, which is making me a little nervous. I don’t think the weather is supposed to get bad later, but I’m not sure. I'm hoping the wind will dry out my clothes before another storm comes through.

Basically, I got up this morning, I hiked, I got water, I hiked some more, I set up camp, I hung some stuff up to dry, and it was boring. The end.
